How to Maintain Automatic Driveway Gates
A simple maintenance routine that keeps automatic driveway gates running for years instead of months.
Monthly
- Wipe debris off photo eye lenses
- Listen for new sounds during a normal cycle
- Watch the gate travel — any new wobble, drag, or hesitation is a clue
Quarterly
- Lubricate hinges and rollers per the manufacturer's spec
- Check that the manual disconnect still operates smoothly
- Test the safety reverse with a soft obstruction (cardboard box)
Annually
Have the system professionally inspected. We check operator force settings, safety devices, hinges or rollers, and access devices in one visit, and recommend any work needed before it becomes an emergency.
